Garena | Free Fire
Across several projects for Garena's videogame Free Fire, we at Lumia Studio brought different characters and worlds from the game into live-action through cosplay productions. Each project presented its own creative and technical challenges, combining cinematography, practical effects, atmospheric lighting, location and studio shooting, compositing and VFX. Our goal was to translate Free Fire’s highly stylized visual language into believable live-action imagery while preserving the personality of each character and collaboration. This showreel brings together some of our favorite shots from these productions and showcases Lumia Studio’s work across creative direction, production, cinematography and post-production.

Agency: PRIM Production: Plux Studio Production Partner: Lumia Studio Lumia joined as executing production partner to produce an internal message for HP retailers across Latin America. The event required HP LATAM's executives to speak directly to their audience from HP's facilities in Houston, TX: Marcos Razón | General Manager & Managing Director Ernesto Aguilar | VP of Channels Luiz Mascarenhas | Personal Systems, Displays & Peripherals Category Head Alfredo Cors | Printing & Supplies Category Director Lina Londoño | Sustainability Strategy Leader & Chief of Staff Virtual Event Host: Vicky Barrera The challenge: making Vicky, the host, appear to be physically in HP Facilities presenting and speaking directly with each executive.
Technical Challenges | Camera & Lighting continuity across 2 locations
We first filmed HP's executives on a set inside their Houston offices. For the final composite to work, we recorded the camera distance to each speaker, lens height, and focal length, so that when filming Vicky later in Mexico we could replicate those exact parameters and achieve a consistent perspective and lens distortion between both shoots. The lighting was a challenge too, as we had to match it in both sets. Since we knew we would record Vicky in a relatively small studio compared to the set in Houston and that the green screen had to be perfectly plainly lit, we opted for a diffused balloon key light on the top that would light our subjects, and would be perfect for both our sets (the green screen and the set in Houston), it would also bring catch light reflections to their eyes. This plus 2 fill lights on the sides made the perfect choice.Green Screen Breakdown
Technical Challenges | Eye-line matching
For the conversation to feel real, matching camera settings wasn't enough, Vicky and each executive needed to appear to be looking each other in the eye. We measured each speaker's eye height in Houston, along with the distance Vicky needed to "stand" from them. With that data, at Prim's studio in Mexico City we placed physical reference points at that exact height, so her gaze would match that of the executive she was addressing in the footage.

Technical Challenges | Integration into a 3D set
For the sustainability segment, we filmed Vicky and Lina Londoño (Sustainability Strategy Leader & Chief of Staff) together on the same green screen, having a live conversation. That footage was later composited onto a 3D render built in 3ds Max with V-Ray, defining lens, height, and lighting for the virtual set so both would blend naturally into a space that doesn't actually exist.

ARIEL | Dynamic Foam Logo Campaign

Client: Ariel Agency: Landor Scope: 3D Fluid Simulation, Look Development, Compositing & Commercial Retouching For this campaign, we were tasked at Lumia Studio with transforming the iconic Ariel atom logo into a high-energy 3D fluid simulation made entirely of foam. This project presented a unique challenge: solving the atom's impossible shape while carefully art-directing the bubble mechanics to capture the rapid, kinetic motion of a washing machine within a highly aesthetic commercial look. To complete the piece, we seamlessly composited the live-action talent into the dynamic CG environment using precise light wraps and glows.

An alternative early approach blending heavy water dynamics with thick laundry foam. The aggressive forces and turbulent energy rays in this iteration sparked key feedback sessions, shifting the artistic direction away from raw simulated physics toward a more controlled, stylized movement.

Stylized Fluid Sculpting
We started with a realistic fluid simulation to establish a natural baseline, then hand-sculpted the fluid paths to achieve a highly controlled aesthetic. By manually adjusting the 3D mesh, we defined the continuous ridges and tension points, ensuring the atom's structural "skeleton" perfectly conveyed high-speed motion before moving into LookDev and lighting.

Ariel | Stylized Bubble Compositing
To achieve the painterly highlights the client requested, we used a hybrid approach. We rendered the base bubbles in 3D to retain their shapes, perspective following the fluid simulation and realistic soap refractions (IOR). Then, we designed custom 2D stylized bubbles to overlay via Photoshop, blending realistic physical volume with a polished, commercial aesthetic.

Hand-painting each stylized bubble would have been highly inefficient. Instead, we developed a rapid Photoshop workflow transforming stock lens flares into spheres using the polar coordinates filter. By clone-patching the seams and applying layer styles like inner shadow, bevel, and emboss, we efficiently generated diverse, perfectly lit 2D bubbles ready to seamlessly overlay onto our 3D render.

Ariel | Custom Soap Brushes & Assets
To refine the composition, we developed a custom library of organic soap brushes and texture assets. These were utilized as intricate masks during the post-production phase, giving us the flexibility to precisely add, subtract, and sculpt realistic foam splashes and organic shapes across the final image.

After constructing the base atom from our 3D foam renders, we layered these dynamic motion lines and hand-painted energies on top. This isolated view highlights the custom brushwork and vibrant glows applied over the 3D structure to emphasize the rapid rotation and electric impact of the final composition.
Ariel | Impossible Geometry Assembly
Ariel's iconic atom is actually a geometrically impossible shape, as the concave and convex sides of each ring invert upon intersection. To solve this, we divided the three main rings into six separate 3D renders—one specifically for each peak. Through precise masking and compositing in Photoshop, we blended the pieces to create the seamless illusion of continuous, overlapping rings that flawlessly hide the geometric inversions. Achieving this level of structural accuracy would have been nearly impossible through 2D composition and hand-painting alone, making 3D rendering essential to bring this visual paradox to life.

Ariel | Dotted Glow Integration
To seamlessly integrate the talent with the atom's radiant energy, the client requested glowing dotted textures on the areas closest to the structure. We created a custom dotted texture map using displacement maps combined with dodge and burn techniques. Applied via precise masking, this allowed us to wrap the glowing dots perfectly around the talent's contours, enhancing the interactive lighting and commercial aesthetic.

Bolofest 2020 Virtual Parade
Liverpool - Disney, Hotwheels, Barbie
For the 2020 edition of Liverpool’s Bolofest, Lumia Studio was tasked with digitizing physical toys to be featured in a massive virtual parade. Working alongside a talented multi-studio pipeline, we specialized in the 3D scanning, retopology, and texture optimization required to turn real-world toys into broadcast-ready digital assets. Digitizing Beloved Brands
Handling highly recognizable IP from Disney, Hot Wheels, and Barbie requires strict attention to detail to ensure the digital counterparts perfectly match the physical toys. Our team processed massive amounts of photogrammetry data across diverse materials—from the glossy metallic paints of the Hot Wheels fleet to the soft fabrics and plastics of the Disney and Barbie assets.

Technical Challenges & Grooming
One of the most significant challenges in toy photogrammetry is dealing with complex, translucent, or fine materials—especially doll hair, which raw scans often misinterpret as a solid, noisy mass. To achieve a realistic, high-quality look, we stripped away the artifacted geometry and meticulously rebuilt the grooming. By transitioning from base proxy meshes to fully reconstructed hair systems, we ensured characters like Moana maintained their signature silhouettes.
The Cleanup Pipeline
The journey from an initial capture to a production-ready asset is a rigorous process. This progression showcases our internal cleanup pipeline. We start with the dense, artifact-heavy raw photogrammetry mesh, perform manual retopology and cleanup to reconstruct missing data, and finally re-project the high-resolution textures to bring the character back to life.
Animation-Ready Assets
The ultimate goal of our pipeline was to deliver lightweight, highly optimized 3D models. By finalizing clean mesh topology and baking efficient textures, we ensured that the assets we handed off to the animation teams were highly detailed, yet light enough to perform seamlessly in complex, crowded scene files without causing render bottlenecks.
Final Result: Bringing the Parade to Life
The final broadcast animation, directed by Reality Kraft and animated by Zebra Studio, brought the entire virtual event together. This breakdown highlights our technical contribution to the project, showcasing how Lumia Studio's meticulously cleaned photogrammetry assets were successfully integrated into the final, high-energy parade.
Fornite Stand
Fortnite
Fortnite is a global gaming phenomenon, bringing together fast-paced action, strategy, creativity, and chaos in a massive 100-player Battle Royale experience. For Talent Land, one of Mexico’s largest technology and gaming events, we were commissioned to design the official Fortnite stand. Our goal was to go beyond a traditional exhibition booth and create an immersive environment that captured the essence of the game. The challenge was to translate Fortnite’s iconic visual language, energy, and sense of adventure into a physical space that would resonate with both casual visitors and the most dedicated players. Every area was conceived to feel like an extension of the Fortnite universe, transforming the stand into a memorable brand experience rather than simply a display space.
Façade Design
Fortnite’s visual identity inspired the entire façade design. Large-scale character panels and the game’s vibrant color palette transformed the stand into a recognizable landmark visible from across the event floor.
Gamer Zone
Inspired by Fortnite’s iconic building mechanics, the Gamer Zone recreated the feeling of being inside one of the player-built forts seen throughout the game. This dedicated space was designed for streamer Ninja, creating a focal point for live gameplay, audience interaction, and community engagement.

Live Streaming Experience
Ninja’s gameplay was broadcast live on a large LED screen beside the Gamer Zone, allowing visitors on the main floor to follow the action and engage with the experience in real time.
The Interactive Dance Challenge
Situated on the first floor's right wing, this corridor transforms a standard queuing area into a gamified experience. The space is equipped with crowd-control stanchions, a full-body mirror on the left, and a central display. The screen challenges attendees to a dance battle using famous Fortnite emotes, monitored by a hidden Kinect scanner. Pulling off the right moves rewards the user by opening a concealed door at the end of the hallway.
The Reward Vault: Hidden Loot Room
Stepping through the secret door reveals a hidden reward vault, intentionally designed to evoke the maze-like structure of Fortnite's iconic forts. Inside Untitled1.jpg, illuminated loot chests offer exclusive giveaways, while a two-way mirror provides a behind-the-scenes view of the ongoing dance challenge in the adjacent corridor. The space features two pathways: the clandestine entrance next to the mirror and the other leading victorious attendees directly out onto the main exhibition floor.
The Glider Drop: Interactive Photo Opportunity
Designed as an immersive photo opportunity, this corner features two large LED screens looping the classic skydive into Battle Royale Island. A physical glider prop is suspended from the ceiling, allowing fans to grab on and capture their own heroic drop into the game.
Llama's Ride: Mechanical Attraction
Interactive Selfie Stations: Social Tracking Hub
Interactive selfie kiosks allowed attendees to snap and instantly upload photos to the event's website. Beyond driving digital engagement, the stations served as a seamless tracking tool to measure overall foot traffic and booth attendance.
Target Practice: Loot-Driven Shooting Gallery
This dedicated activity zone transformed into a high-stakes shooting gallery featuring iconic replica weaponry. Attendees aimed for hanging character targets across a custom desert range, with successful hits unlocking exclusive booth giveaways.

Delivering high-end post-production for the Emporium Hotel SouthBank campaign required an extensive, meticulous workflow to capture the venue's vibrant luxury. The process involved seamlessly integrating complex multi-plate composites—some built from up to 20 separately lit photographs—alongside dramatic environmental relighting. With rigorous clean-up, targeted dodge and burn, and a dynamic color grade, we unified these elements into a flawless, sophisticated commercial finish. The Lobby: Hero Image Composite
The main Lobby stands as the centerpiece of the campaign. This highly complex composite was meticulously constructed from approximately 20 individual photographs. With the walls, floor, ceiling, reception counter, and each individual talent lit and captured in separate plates, the primary challenge was seamlessly integrating them into a unified space. The extensive post-production process required intricate masking to extract fine details like flyaway hairs and reflective surfaces. Once assembled, targeted dodge and burn techniques were applied to every subject and object, finishing with a cohesive color grade and atmospheric glows to lock the 20 distinct frames into one flawless, vibrant reality.

Parkland's Pool - Environmental Relighting
The Parkland's Pool image showcases the transformative power of environmental relighting. The original plates were captured under a flat, gray sky, which was completely replaced with a bright, cyan-blue backdrop. To ground this new element and make the composite feel entirely natural, the overall environment and every subject were relit to match the new sky, successfully shifting the mood to a warm, inviting commercial aesthetic.
